On February 9th, the House of Commons will debate the following Petition, which was signed by over 113,000 U.K. voters and residents:  

“Call for a Public Inquiry into Russian influence on UK politics & democracy”

As your local constituent, I would like to urge you to take an active part in this debate, and to support the idea of a Public Inquiry.

I am aware, that very recently, in December of 2025, the Government asked an ex-civil servant Philip Rycroft to lead the independent review of foreign financial interference in UK politics, including efforts by the Kremlin. 

This is a welcome step forward, particularly after the shocking case of a convicted criminal, Nathan Gill, Reform UK Leader in Wales, who took bribes to further Moscow’s narratives. 

But this malicious interference by the Kremlin in the functioning of the British democratic life is much wider and deeper, than just one aspect of it — foreign financial involvement in UK politics (Rycroft’s remit). 

For this reason I urge you to support the idea of a judge-led Public Inquiry. Yes, it may be costlier and slower. But for the sake of the British democracy, the conclusions and recommendations of such an independent, high level inquiry will be far more valuable. 

A full Public Inquiry into Russian influence on UK democracy is badly needed. Please support it.
